In 2018 the Waukesha Public Library and the School District of Waukesha created a full-time Community Library Liaison (CLL) position that splits hours, and salary between the two organizations, directly connecting the two agencies. The goal of this new position is to deepen learning opportunities for students, teachers and parents via shared resources, digital access and public library outreach services. In the presentation, school and public library colleagues will share information about the discussions to realize this new position. We will also discuss concerns raised by the school and library boards. We will share our vision for the future of the CLL based on the accomplishments of the first ten months. Finally, we will discuss the importance of relationship building between the organizations as well as the families we both serve.
